Located atop a mountain in Kyoto’s Gion and Higashiyama district, the Banyan Tree Kyoto Higashiyama will be the brand’s first hotel in Kyoto. The hotel’s 52 luxurious mountain-view rooms offer breathtaking views of Kyoto, surrounded by lush forests, creating a secluded mountain retreat.

Designed by Kengo Kuma, the hotel’s exterior architecture seamlessly blends modern and traditional elements, creating a unique aesthetic experience. The overall design features clean, flowing lines, incorporating characteristics of traditional Japanese architecture. Kuma also emphasized harmony with the surrounding natural environment, using natural materials and colors to create a harmonious integration of architecture and landscape.
